Investors backing ideas in the Greater Lowell area. A new organization GLEN(Greater Lowell Entrepreneur Network) has been formed following a meeting of Lowell's Cyber District Committee. Cairin O'Connor of the Bolton Trust of Ireland, Joanne Souza of The Edge Group and Lowell's economic development director Tom Galligani are spear heading this group. This group will bring together the people, to present in a quick snapshot, the ideas they have with the people who may be willing to make their ideas a realization. Molly Sheehy of the Middlesex Community College will be hosting the monthly GLEN meetings at the Cyber Cafe on Merrimack Street. The meetings will begin with talks on topics addressing timely issues and entrepreneurs in the audience will be given a chance to present their ideas

Time afterwards will be given to everyone to mingle and meet. According to Cairin O'Connor "meetings will be open to anyone in the region who works in the new economy" which will include software and information technology. Due to the nature of high tech start-ups trying to get off the ground, this will bring together the idea people with investors who are supportive of local businesses. "Potential business people will be able to meet with service providers...each of which can help find space for a burgeoning business." This is a first for the area and the organizers hope to fill a gap within the region that is sorely needed. A website is being developed with meetings and speakers to be posted. For more information or to pre-register for a Cyber Cafe meeting, email Galligani at Tgalliga@ci.lowell.ma.us or call (978)970-4285.
